The Greater Binghamton Chamber has announced that the Bridge Run, which was moved to late September, will now be a virtual event.

A press release issued by the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce said that due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the #MaddieStrong Bridge Run Half Marathon and 5K will not be the actual downtown race this year, but instead has transitioned into a virtual race, that will take place over several weeks during the month of September.

This is the tenth anniversary of the downtown Binghamton event, which celebrates athleticism and community, has grown each year, and gained more support from businesses, community organizations, and individuals.

When the pandemic hit our country, many event supporters thought the race could be moved to late September, but over the past weeks and months, organizers realized the race could not take place as it has since 2010.

This years #MaddieStrong Bridge Run Half Marathon and 5K will not have a starting line, instead we will show our support through a virtual race.

Registered participants will have the option to participate in the virtual event, or defer your registration to 2021. Details of the virtual races will be available on August 14 with further instructions.

Bridge Run Race Director Amy Shaw will be a guest on WNBF’s First News Binghamton this Thursday Morning, August 13 at 8:35am, to talk about this year’s virtual race.
