Binghamton Unveils New Electric Cars

The City of Binghamton is taking another step away from fossil fuels with the addition of a couple electric vehicles.

The City Planning Department will be using the new 2019 Nissan LEAF vehicles financed through a $50,000 New York State Energy Reserch and Development (NYSERDA) grant and a $3,000 New York State Department of Environmental Conservation rebate.

The total cost of the vehicles was $53,056 through special pricing from the Climate Mayors Electric Vehicle Purchasing Collaborative.

The City is looking to add electric charging stations that could eventually be available to the general public in addition to the government vehicles.
