Authorities say Jedediah Hotchkiss of Binghamton was charged with second-degree burglary. He also faces counts of third-degree and fourth-degree grand larceny.

Investigators say the arrest followed two incidents which were reported on Wednesday.

One case involved the burglary of a residence on Oak Street. Hotchkiss is accused of entering the home, stealing property and then driving off in the resident's vehicle.

Police say the vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.

In the other incident, detectives say property was stolen from a vehicle that had been parked on Chapin Street.

Hotchkiss was arraigned in Binghamton City Court Thursday morning and sent to Broome County Jail.

Police say the investigation is continuing. People who may have additional information may contact the Detective Bureau at 607.772.7080.
