Binghamton City Council begins sifting through the proposed 2020 budget line-by-line with eight scheduled meetings starting on Monday, September 23.

[Photo: David Hermanovitch][/caption]Binghamton Mayor Richard David this month proposed a $97 million budget that cuts residential property taxes 3.02% and commercial property taxes by .28% while funding new vehicles for the police and fire departments, improvements to city roadways and the replacement of tennis courts at MacArthur School and Recreation Park.

Budget hearings will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Work Room on September 23, 24, 25, 26 and 30 and October 1, 2 and 3.

A final budget is to be adopted in November.
