Binghamton Area Sex Offenders – Where Not to Trick-Or-Treat
Halloween is supposed to be a fun holiday for kids where they can let their imaginations run wild, dress as their fantasy and stuff their sweet little faces with sugar. While it's easy to get wrapped up in the fun of Halloween, it's also important to remember that keeping your family safe should be your top priority.
Like it or not, sex offenders live among us and while New York State will be launching 'Operation Halloween' again on Halloween night, there's not such thing as being too cautious and aware of your surroundings.
According to the state Division of Criminal Justice Services, as of October 19, 2015, there are 647 registered sex offenders living in Broome County alone. 156 of those offenders are classified as Level 3 offenders, which means there's a high risk that they'll repeat their crime. 213 are listed as Level 2 offenders, which means there's a moderate risk that they'll repeat their crime.
