How the Study Was Conducted
Advance Funds Network, surveyed more than 3,000 consumers across the United States. They asked people to identify small businesses where staff members stood out for their friendliness, patience, and helpful service. They combined consumer feedback with each business’s Google review rating.
Buffalo Bookstore Recognized for Friendly Service
One of the New York businesses recognized was Talking Leaves…Books in Buffalo, which ranked 23rd nationwide. The independent bookstore has become a favorite for its welcoming atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Employees are known for taking the time to talk with customers and offering book recommendations.
Iconic New York City Shop Makes the List
Another business recognized in the study is the Strand Book Store in New York City, which ranked 25th in the country. Located near Union Square, the Strand is famous for its massive selection of books.The staff is known for being approachable and eager to help customers track down hard-to-find titles or discover something new to read.

Saratoga Springs Bookstore Also Honored
Rounding out the New York businesses on the list is Northshire Bookstore in Saratoga Springs, which ranked 33rd nationally. The bookstore is known for its bright space and a staff that enjoys helping visitors. Customers say employees provide helpful recommendations while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable.
