A milestone anniversary or birthday, the celebration of some truly fantastic news, a reunion with a long-lost love – all of those things would be the perfect excuse to book a table at Upstate New York’s remarkable castle restaurant.
The enchanting Beardslee Castle is located in Little Falls, just an hour from both Syracuse and Albany, and minutes from Herkimer and it is a real-life castle that has been turned into a restaurant.

Beardslee Castle was built in 1860 by a gentleman called Augustus Beardselee who wanted it to represent an Irish castle and so he brought in masons from Ireland and Switzerland to construct it. The castle has survived two major fires, the first in 1919 and the second in 1989 but both times it was restored to its full glory.
On the main floor of the castle, there is a spectacular 6-foot-wide wood-burning fireplace and five separate dining areas with three-foot-thick limestone walls and cozy oak-paneled ceilings and floors.

The menu changes both seasonally and daily based on the availability of seasonal and local ingredients. The food served at Beardslee Castle “features wood-grilled meats & game, the freshest seafood & creative vegetarian dishes drawing from regional American, Island, Mediterranean, and Asian influences.”
Below the dining area is the Dungeon which is a cozy bar and grill which features a casual menu during regular dinner hours. Also located in the Dungeon are pool tables and a wine room for those looking for a more intimate dining experience.
