Baseball in New York Cleared to Resume April 1

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says a limited number of fans will be able to watch the Yankees and Mets play baseball at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium in a couple of weeks.

The Democrat announced on March 18 that Major League Baseball can resume play April 1^st with limited capacity of 20 % in outdoor stadiums holding 10,000 spectators or more.  Attendees must show proof of a negative test or completed COVID vaccination series prior to being allowed into the stadium.

Some of the rules regarding travel for sports are also being changed from contiguous counties and regions to statewide as of March 29.

Regional sports venues that hold 1,500 people indoors/ 2,500 people outdoors can also open with limited capacity, proof of vaccination or negative COVID test and all stadiums will enforce social distancing, face coverings and health screenings.

In addition to the announcement concerning sports, Cuomo has announced large outdoor performing arts venues, including stadiums, that hold more than 2,500 people can reopen at 20 % capacity starting April 1 with the same regulations as the sporting venues.  That clears the way for the resumption of some concerts in outdoor areas.
