Living in the Southern Tier of New York has many advantages. And a few disadvantages. On the list of cons, I would add less than favorable weather. Sure, usually the months between April through October are nice. It just those winter months November through March that are not my favorite time of the year.

The Southern Tier of New York really has a lot of things to be thankful for, including beautiful scenery, plenty of outdoor activities, sporting events, entertainment, job opportunities and shopping choices to name a few.

But I would think that on the top of many peoples list, is living in a safe community. In 2019, Background Checks website listed the top 100 safest cities to live in New York State. I was a bit surprised to find out just how few cities around the Binghamton area did not get on this list. The safest New York State city in 2019 according to the article, is the Town of East Hampton.
