Another Frigid Weekend for Twin Tiers

The National Weather Service in Binghamton is warning about potentially dangerous cold for the region January 29.

Early January 28, the Weather Service issued a Wind Chill Advisory in effect from midnight to 11 a.m. January 29 for Broome, Tioga, Cortland, Chenango and Tompkins Counties in New York and Bradford, and Susquehanna Counties in Pennsylvania.

Even with steady winds fairly calm overnight January 28-29, the temperature will be dipping into the low single digits.

NOAA says very cold wind chills of 15 to 20 below zero are possible.

Those kinds of wind chills can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, the temperature on Saturday, January 29 is expected to climb only in the mid-teens with winds picking up to over 10 miles per hour steady and gusts of 26 miles per hour possible.

Overnight lows Saturday and Sunday are still projected to dip into the single digits before a warming trend starts to creep in for the beginning part of the week.

 By Thursday, February 3 (the day after Groundhog Day) the high temperature could be in the mid to upper 40s.
