Not too long ago, AI was something we were scared of but now job seekers in New York are taking it right into the interview. People are asking AI tools to dig up questions from places like Glassdoor and Reddit, then running through practice interviews that feel like the real deal.

Half of Us Are Doing It

A new survey of more than 3,000 job seekers found that 52% of New Yorkers admit they’re using AI to prep. That’s more than half leaning on bots to feel ready for the big day.

Does It Actually Help?

Plenty think it does. 36% say AI practice gave them more confidence and helped them perform better. It’s become part of the normal routine, right alongside researching the company.

Employers Aren’t Clueless

Of course, bosses are starting to catch on. Three out of four believe companies will eventually figure out who’s getting AI help. But whether it’s cheating or not? Opinions are split down the middle—some call it unfair, others call it smart prep.

Can AI Really Predict Questions?

Not everyone trusts the tech. Four in ten say yes, AI can guess what questions will come up. Six in ten say hiring managers are way too unpredictable. Still, about a third of job seekers say they’d pay for a premium AI coach, while the rest are staying with the free tools.

Guilt Free Job Hunting

72% of New Yorkers say they would feel zero guilt landing a job with AI-polished answers. Only about a quarter admitted they’d feel bad about it. And if AI could whisper answers in real time during the interview? Just over half said, “Sign me up.”

The Anxiety Factor

Maybe the clearest sign of how much we’re relying on AI is nerves. Nearly half of New Yorkers said they’d be more anxious walking into an interview without AI prep than without company research. That says a lot about how important these tools have become in today’s job hunt.
