More than 60 years ago, it was common practice for kids with intellectual and other developmental disabilities to be placed into a state institution. In 1952, 10 brave families wanted to make a better life for their children.

They got together with other parents in New York and they established what we now call ACHIEVE. They have been the premier provider of services to people with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities in Broome, Chenango, and Tioga Counties for 64 years.

They have done so much for our community and their biggest fundraiser of the year, "Savor the Summer" was canceled last year because of the pandemic. This is one of the events that I look forward to attending because it gives me a chance to get together with friends while enjoying some wine and food while helping out this wonderful organization.

ACHIEVE's "Savor The Summer" Event Is Back

It's their first live event since 2019 and we are glad it's back. It will take place on Thursday, September 16th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m at ACHIEVE, 125 Cutler Pond Road in Binghamton. Rain or Shine!

Here is your chance to enjoy your food and drink, while you admire the beautiful view overlooking Cutler Pond. Before you know it, the leaves will be changing color and the snow will be flying, so why not "Savor the Summer" while sampling our area's best restaurants, wines, and craft beer.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required to attend.
