People Magazine scours America to find the best “natural wonders to natural talent” and compiles them into a “list of the things that inspire us the most about the United States this year.

Coming in at number 42 on the list of the top 100 Reasons to Love America list is Binghamton-born LUMA Light Festival. People Magazine writes how much it loves when cities are transformed into works of art. The magazine specifically mentioned the Carnegie Library in downtown Binghamton being transformed into a stunning canvas for a fairy tale.

LUMA Light Festival was founded in 2015 by a street photographer, a film editor, and an event planner and surpassed all of the wildest dreams of organizers by quickly becoming America’s premier projection arts festival.

LUMA Light Festival uses projectors and 3D animation to make huge buildings appear as though they’ve come to life, captivating visitors young and old as they watch stories literally come to life.

The LUMA Light Festival is a production of LUMA Arts Inc and LUMA Projection Arts, LLC with the support from the City of Binghamton, Broome County, and the State of New York and is without a doubt a destination event.

The 2022 LUMA Lights Festival is scheduled for Friday, September 9, and Saturday, September 10 in Downtown Binghamton. While most features are completely free and open to the public, tickets are required for some specific events and will be available closer to the date of the festival.
