Binghamton police say a teenage boy is in custody in connection with the shooting of two people at the Columbus Park basketball courts.

The 14-year-old suspect, whose name was not released, was found by investigators on West End Avenue late Wednesday afternoon. He was wanted on an attempted murder warrant.

Detectives say the boy also is the suspect in a January 11 shooting incident at 225 Robinson Street on the city's East Side.

The suspect was arraigned and sent to a secure detention facility. Police did not say where he is being held.

Investigators say the boy's father - 31-year-old Tyrell Mcbride of Binghamton - also has been taken into custody. He had been sought on a burglary warrant. He is being held at Broome County Jail.

People with information about the shooting incidents may contact the Binghamton police detective bureau at (607) 772-7080.
