I have heard of companies using many different substances as a filler. Awhile back a remember a story about some of our food places using the same substance found in yoga mats at filler for their bread products. Now its wood.

Which, cant be as bad as it sounds in my opinion. you can actually eat some trees! You probably wouldn't want to, unless its a survival situation but... if you're paying for cheese you should get cheese. This is where you should learn to read your labels.

A lab tested the most popular brands of Parmesan cheese, and found all of them contain at least a little wood pulp.  It's called "cellulose" in the list of ingredients, and it's a safe way to stop the cheese from clumping.  No matter how you look at it, there's still wood mixed into your "100%" cheese.

The USDA has pursued companies in the past that claim to be selling 100% cheese that contained the "cellulose" additive. It's actually in more products than you would think... a complete list can be found at NaturalSociety.com
