Would You Let McDonald’s Cater Your Wedding?

Traci Taylor

I know that a lot more couples are opting for more intimate and casual weddings, and with that comes a smaller venue, smaller guest list, and a smaller catering bill, but would you ever consider replacing your grilled chicken breast and a side of steamed veggies with chicken McNuggets and a side of fries?

As hard as it is to believe, apparently this trend towards “McWeddings” is becoming a worldwide phenomenon because 15 McDonald’s restaurants in Hong Kong are offering full wedding packages for brides and grooms who want their marriage officiated with a stamp of golden-arched approval.

You can even get you engagement, anniversary and bridal parties catered by Mickey D’s if that’s what tickles your taste buds, and after already hosting dozens of weddings, the fast-food giant has streamlined the process, offering various packages priced anywhere between $373 to $1,290.

There’s definitely a long list of problems I can already see with this new catering trend – uhhh, hello? Who’s going to want their best suit or God forbid, wedding dress stained after taking a messy bite out of a Big Mac? – but there are actually a couple of things I like about it.

First off, can we talk about the variety available to guests with all those combos to choose from?  And we’re talking $6 a plate instead of $200, and if you budget in the Happy Meal toy instead of wedding favors…

It might not be the healthiest option, but as far as having McDonald’s cater weddings goes: Badabababa, My Wallets Lovin’ it!
