Woman Turns Yard Into Sandbox So She Won’t Have to Mow

Georgianna Reid of Kansas City was tired of mowing her lawn so she decided to do what every logical thinking person would think to do. She got rid of her lawn by covering it up with 80 TONS of sand.

I can’t argue that turning your yard into a beach is a way to make sure you won’t have to mow it, but I’m not sure how I’d feel if one of my neighbors turned their lawn into a giant sandbox. I’d imagine that might bring down the neighborhood property values, but that’s just a guess.

“Now being over 60, I’ve decided that I’ve owned the house for 33 years and that I wasn’t going to mow anymore or water.” said Reid.

Obviously, not all of Reid’s neighbors are crazy in love with her idea. As a matter of fact, some of them filed complaints with the city and inspectors went to her property, but couldn’t cite her with any violations because the sand is being used for landscaping purposes.
