A few weeks ago, my husband's dog had to be put down because her kidneys were failing and that night, we got a bunch of snow. He sat up all night watching it fall and thinking about how much his dog used to beg to play in the snow. I know he would have given almost anything just one more chance to romp in the snow with his pup.

When Lauren Fern Watt received the heartbreaking news from her dog's vet that Gizelle, her English mastif, had terminal bone cancer, she set out to make sure her 160-pound dog had a blast as she lived out her remaining days.

Lauren created a bucket list for Gizelle and was able to fulfill every item on the list. Lauren said, "I wanted to enjoy my last months with Gizelle and really cherish our life together, instead of focusing on being sad about the fact that she had cancer." Over the course of a few months she was able to take Gizelle on trips to the beach, to Times Square and on a canoe trip down a river. Gizelle enjoyed feasting on lobster and satisfied her sweet tooth with pints of ice cream.

Gizelle lost her battle on January 7th and Lauren wrote, "I knew she would live on through my experiences, and that I gave her the best life I could. And that to me was infinitely healing."
