Why You Should Eat Before a Workout
Country star Lauren Alaina has been pretty vocal about her struggle with her weight and I have so much respect for her speaking out to let other women know they’re not alone.
I was listening to the Blair Garner Show on my way into work a couple mornings ago when Lauren was on the show and she said something that I thought was great- she was talking about how when we get a fire to go to the gym, we tend to overdo it. We push ourselves too hard on the first day and then we don’t go back. Lauren explained that weight loss is a gradual process and you’ve got to be in it for the long run.
Once you’ve decided that you’re in it for however long it takes to get yourself in shape, there’s something else that you need to know. You shouldn’t ever workout with an empty belly. Our bodies are not okay with being starved and when you hit the gym on an empty stomach, you’re actually doing more harm than good.
It’s true that when you workout on an empty stomach you’ll burn fat pretty fast, but that’s not such a great thing. The reason is because when you burn fat super fast, your body’s survival instinct kicks in and it starts adjusting your metabolism so you’re working out with no benefit.
Memory bank that and the next time you’re getting ready to workout, eat something- anything before you work up a sweat.
