The statistics are alarming yet real.  Over 600,000 people are homeless in America on any given night.  Can you imagine living everyday not knowing if you have a safe place to sleep at night?  Most of us take a warm home and bed for granted.  But being homeless is reality for over a half a million Americans.

The Freeze Out 5K to end homelessness, may just be the most important benefits you can attend in 2015.  The run takes place 10am February 28th on the SUNY Broome campus, Upper Front Street, Binghamton.  All the money raised goes right to the heart of the problem here in the Binghamton area, and to help end homelessness in the Southern Tier.

It's estimated that close to 2,000 people in Broome and surrounding counties.

The walk supports the amazing work of the Rescue Mission, which in 2012-2013 helped a majority of the 1,723 men, women and children that have no place to live in Broome County.

Rescue Mission in the Binghamton area also operates the Thrifty Shopper store on Upper Front Street Binghamton and homeless outreach, with proceeds from the Thrifty Shopper helping homeless people here in our community.
