Growing up in the Binghamton area all my life, I have a great appreciation for family traditions.  I have special memories of every holiday with my family.  Elaborate or simple, everyone has some memories that are more important than others.

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays.  I guess it's because it is quiet, no commercial and simple.  I recall hiding eggs in shoes at St. Thomas Aquinas in Binghamton.  Hey it was a Catholic school so I guess it was a safe thing to do.  Years later, I tried it on one of my sisters and they didn't find it funny at all. Of course in grade school they were hard boiled.  That could have been it!

Easter means the arrival of Spring, my favorite season.  Everything seems to wake up after the Winter sleep.  I associate the outdoor smells of Spring with Easter.

I'm not a big "sweet person" or should I say, a person who appreciates sweet candy. Give me a pack of Peeps and I'm a happy camper.  I do have some nice memories of the Easter Bunny coming to my West side Binghamton home.  According to my parents, I asked too many questions so the believing aspect did not last long.

Most of all, Easter is a laid back somewhat happy holiday.  Simple time to spend with family and friends, go to church together and maybe watch a movie after that ham dinner.

I hope your Easter is a great one.  Here's to making new traditions this year with the special peeps in your life.  Happy Easter.
