As we all see the damage and loss that hurricane Sandy has left in her path. Many of us are wondering just where to drop off items for donation or how to help raise money here locally to get those people the help they need. I've compiled a list of donation locations and benefits you can get involved with to help:

Saturday’s Binghamton Senators game against the Norfolk Admirals will host a supply drive to benefit victims of SuperStorm Sandy. B-Sens forwards Pat Cannone, Hugh Jessiman and B-Sens equipment manager Tom Severence have arranged the drive which will benefit two of the hardest hit areas in New York: Long Beach and Staten Island. Cannone and Jessiman are from the area and Severance lived near Long Beach for a time. The B-Sens are seeking the following items for donation:

Antibacterial wipes
Baby wipes
Blankets
Bottled water
Cereal
Cereal bars
Cleaning supplies
Clothing – Both adult and child sizes, new or gently used
Diapers
Energy and protein bars
Gatorade/Powerade
Grab and go snacks (i.e. pretzels, crackers, etc.)
Granola bars
Hand sanitizer
Meals in a can/Canned goods in general
Napkins
Paper towels
Peanut butter
Shelf stable milk
Trash bags
Work gloves
Ziploc bags – sandwich, quart and gallon sizes

Monetary donations will also be accepted. The “Hurricane Sandy Relief” table will be located on the main concourse of the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

The "SANDY" Benefit is on Nov 17th at 4PM-Swagger,Pawnshop and Steel are  3 of the bands scheduled to play. Donation at the door is $3.00


Post Office Letter Carriers to Take Donations
Letter carriers are holding a Saturday, Nov. 10, food drive to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.To participate, leave a non-perishable food item — but no glass items — at your mailbox Saturday for your letter carrier. The food will be taken to a food pantry in the greater New York area.
