There are tons of employees that haven't seen a raise in years and can barely make ends meet. Maybe you’re one of them. I think you’ll agree though that when push comes to shove, having a job at the end of the day is better than not having a job no matter how measly the compensation might be.

And then there's the Container Store.

CEO Kip Tindell has been shoved into the spotlight for paying his retail employees as much as $50,000 a year. A figure nearly twice what the Bureau of Labor Statistics says is the national average.

Kip says he stands by this payment policy because of the "1=3" idea, which means one “great" employee can do the work of three “good" ones and Kips pays them well with the idea that happy employees create happy customers and ultimately happy investors.

What a novel idea! Maybe if more businesses adopted this concept and paid their employees better there would be less job turnover and more happy employees, ready and willing to bend over backwards for their employers.
