As many already know, I really enjoy golf, food and kids. But what I love them most is when I can combine the all of them together!

This is why I love the Wendy's Walk for Kids during the DICK'S Sporting Goods Open. Yesterday they announced how much money was raised in 2014 and their plans for 2015.

I'm proud to announce that $250,000 was raised for the local children's charities! The largest amount raised thus far and they aren't done yet! The 2014 recipients are the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, ACHIEVE, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, and the JCC of Binghamton.

The $250,000 contribution is a result of core fundraising events put on year round. $19,480 of that total was raised with the “Play with a Pro” squeeze ball promotion, which happened before the Zac Brown Band Concert.  Additionally, a $1,000 bonus will be given to the charity that raised the greatest amount of money.

Even the people from the Champions Tour noticed. "The Wendy's Walk for Kids is one of the most successful charitable initiatives on the Champions Tour," said Champions Tour COO Miller Brady.

"The effort put forth by Wendy's and the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open in reaching record donations serves as a great reminder of the things that can be accomplished when a community works together."

They're not even close to being finished with this cause, so make plans to be a part of the 2015 Wendy’s Walk for Kids! It'll be held on Sunday, August 30th  during the Final Round of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open.

In addition to the Dave Thomas Foundation, the 2015 recipients are Kopernik Observatory & Science Center, the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier, and OurSpace at Rec Park.

They do a lot of other events to raise money for the walk so you can help out all year long. To keep up with all the latest events and to sign up for next year's Wendy's Walk for Kids, go here.
