The Greater Binghamton area sure has it's pick of festivals.  With the 2015 Owego Strawberry Festival a good memory, it's time to celebrate cherries with the 11th Annual Cherry Festival this Saturday and Sunday, 9:30am-6pm outside of Ithaca.

The Cherry Festival will treat fresh fruit fans to a day filled with sweet and sour cherry picking on 5 acres, great food, wine and a variety of activities for all ages.  If you want to pick cherries, get there as early as you can because they tend to go fast.

In addition to tons of cherries, each day will feature live music from 1-5pm, local artisans, an old time hay ride, carnival games and something called Apple Chuckin'!   A number of local animal rescues groups will be represented.  Admission is free for both days.

The Cherry Festival is located on the grounds of Varick Winery and Vineyard, 5102 State Route 89 in Romulus, New York.  As of this writing, the weather sounds perfect to enjoy the day out with family and friends and how sweet it is, as it's only an hour or so from Binghamton.
