2019 is here and it's that time again. Time for the 4th annual Binghamton Pond Festival at the Chenango Valley State Park. This event benefits the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) and Do It For Daron (DIFD.)

The Binghamton Pond Festival begins on Friday, January 11th with FREE Try Hockey for kids. January 12th and 13th is Youth House Level Outdoor Weekend. January 18th is a Skating Clinic by North American Hockey Systems.

January 25th through the 27th is Adult Outdoor Weekend that includes fireworks on Saturday, January 26th. Go here to get more information and to register for all of these events.

You say you can't really skate but you want to help out with this worthy cause. Great news, the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier is looking for volunteers to help.

The tasks range from helping at the entrance gate, registering hockey players, selling merchandise, working at the MHAST info desk and more. It'll be 2 to 3 hours shifts on January 12th,13th, 25th to 27th.

Detailed shift times are available by contacting Erin Sweeney at MHAST at erin.sweeney@mhast.org or call (607) 771-8888 x315. There is a volunteer form to fill out and MHAST will email or call back to work out shift assignments.

The weekend is more then outdoor hockey and all are welcome. There will be plenty of winter fun activities for families and kids including nature walks, sledding and more.

It's the way hockey was meant to be played and you can help out a great cause. Don't worry if the weather is warm because they have a refrigerated outdoor surface
