I spent most of my weekend getting ready for a late spring or early summer garage sale and one thing you learn when you do this exercise is how much worthless junk you collect.  I'm hoping some of the items I label junk will be another person's treasure.

Working in radio for almost 30 years, I have a huge collection of CD's and even some vinyl.  I grew up listening to country music and back in the day it was a little station on the AM dial called WKOP.  The station still exists on 1360 but under a new name -- WYOS.

The station no longer plays country music, but is now dedicated to sports as ESPN Radio 1360.  Actually, the radio station is right here under the Hawk wings at 59 Court Street in downtown Binghamton.  Every once in a while a listener will call or I will run into a someone who goes way back to the original WKOP and I always like to hear the stories.

The WKOP studios used to be located over Weeks & Dickinson at 34 Chenango Street in downtown Binghamton. Weeks & Dickinson was Binghamton's premiere music store from 1945 to 1978, when it finally closed.  I remember my brother acting like he was hot stuff working at this music store.

The historic building housed 5 stories of music including a number of state-of-the-art recording studios.  It wouldn't be unusual for records to be made from these studios, including this treasure recently found at a garage sale that sings the praises of living in Binghamton New York or 'Wonderful Town.' Give it a listen.
