Several local Veteran service agencies partnered together to announce the details of a free workshop for local Veterans and their family members being held on Saturday, June 20th from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the DoubleTree in downtown Binghamton.

The Veteran Career Transition Basic Training is a project of the Southern Tier Veteran Support Group, The Wedge Group, Inc, and the STOP-DWI Returning Warrior 10-Miler, held to provide free career transition coaching to Veterans and their families by experienced employment specials.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re active duty, reserve, National Guard, recently discharged or served 20 years ago. If you would like to find a better career for yourself or a family member, this workshop is for you,” said Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.
The event is open to Veterans of all ages and their family members. If a Veteran is unable to attend, family members are encourage to attend on their behalf to help them transition when the time comes.
In addition to offering free career transition coaching to Veterans and their family members from the talented employment specialists at The Wedge Group, there will be a Family Fun Day with fun activities for kids of all ages in the Zone 225 Game Room (must be accompanied by an adult) with lunch provided.
Employment specialists will help identify what civilian employers are looking for from job applicants with military service by focusing on translating military skills to civilian employment, writing effective resumes and cover letters, interview skills, and networking ideas.
