I'll never forget my first time at a Japanese Restaurant.  While my parents didn't take us kids out to dinner too much, going to the Kampai Japanese Steakhouse was always special.

It was like a show because the chefs would juggle knives in front of you on an amazing hibachi grill you sit under as they entertain and feed with everything from meats, vegetables and seafood.  I've never seen anything like it and I return to this place as much as possible because they make me feel good.

Now come to find out, the Kampai is celebrating 40 years in business.  This weekend they are doing something pretty special by holding a festival at their restaurant on North Jensen Road in Vestal.  Richard and the hard working staff will feature some great food along with performances by the Japanese Folk Dance Institute of New York, KIZUNA Japanese Drums and a Hidy Ochai Martial Arts demonstration by Master Hidy Ochai, himself.

Admission is free and the event is Sunday (August 21) from 11am-6pm.   Congratulations to this great milestone.  40 years in the Binghamton area is something to be proud of!
