There were three accidents on Riverside Drive this morning. Two of them involved cars and the third involved a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian involved was Binghamton Police Captain John Chapman who was believed to have been walking to work around 7:30am when he was struck by a vehicle at Riverside and North Shore Drives, possibly a black Avalanche, which left the scene of the accident.

Reports say Captain Chapman was awake and able to speak to those caring for him on the scene.
