Last week the news reports all said that with the partial government shutdown tax returns would probably be delayed if the shutdown was to lasts into February. Now, according to ABC 13, the White House is saying that tax returns for 2018 will go out on time even if the partial government shutdown is still taking place.

ABC 13 reports that the IRS may recall a large number of their employees to process the returns even though those employees will likely go without getting paid until after the lockout ends.

In the past, if there was a shutdown the tax returns would have been put on hold, but according to ABC 13, a Trump Administration official said tax refunds will go out as normal.

That's good news for anyone who expects a refund this year. And it's not just for those who had more money taken out of their taxes than were required, but it's also good news for those who itemize their deductions, own a house, people who make donations to nonprofit organizations, and people who buy supplies for their job or business.

I'm not going to count my chickens before they hatch. I will wait and see if this changes again. Either way, we will keep you updated.
