Last night put two West Corner firefighters in the spotlight with Dan Peck and Aaron Coney being recognized as the 2015 William Grace "Firefighter of the Year."

According to WBNG-TV, both award recipients "rescued one woman from an Endicott apartment-fire in February 2015."  The call came over the airwaves around 8 p.m. on February 12th for a second-alarm fire located at Nanticoke Apartments in the Village of Endicott.

The rescue was flawless and well done by two great West Corner firefighters that serve our community every day.

"I was hoping I wouldn't win it," said Lieutenant Aaron Coney, West Corners Fire/ Award recipient. "There's a lot of people in Broome County that did a great job through 2015."

"You don't really sign up to do it for awards," said Peck. "That's not why you're here. You're here because you like to help people, like to help the community, and be part of a second family."
