Truck Crash Ties Up Binghamton Expressway Traffic

A tractor-trailer hauling waste material bound for Tioga County overturned on Route 17 in Binghamton Friday morning, causing a major traffic back-up.

The crash happened around 11:20 a.m. on a bridge over the Chenango River.

The truck with a Ben Weitsman and Son trailer wound up on its side next to a concrete barrier. No injuries were reported.

The crash tied up traffic on Route 17 West and Interstate 81 South in the city.

Binghamton police and fire units were assisted by New York State Police at the scene.

It was not immediately known what caused the crash.
