The crash happened on Robinson Street between Whitney Avenue and Alice Street around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

There were no injuries reported after the eastbound tractor-trailer slammed into the bridge.

The truck hauling the trailer is owned by Highlight Motor Freight of Ontario.

Police officers directed traffic around the scene as city public works crews and employees of a towing service removed several crates of birdseed and six giant rolls of paper.

The birdseed was bound for a business on Bevier Street. The more than 20 tons of paper was to be delivered in New Jersey.

Trucks and other tall vehicles frequently strike the railroad bridge. Last May, a man was injured when a Lourdes mobile mammography van hit the bridge, causing metal to smash through his car windshield.
