We love our animals.  I get it.  Sometimes seeing those innocent looks out of the corner of your eye can be hard to say no to.  I mean how bad could a piece of meat or the end of that sub roll be to your little one?  What's the harm, right?  Wrong.

The Food and Drug Administration recently warned pet owners of numerous human foods that could cause complications, poisoning or worse yet, death to your fur baby.

Here are the foods dog owners should keep away from pooch:

  • Macadamia nuts can cause hypothermia and tremors
  • Raw meat can contain E.Coli, salmonella or other harmful bacteria without you even knowing
  • Bread of any kind contains yeast that could easily expand in your dog's stomach and rupture the stomach and intestines
  • Corn on the cob can block intestines which leads to costly surgery
  • Grapes, raisins or currants can lead to kidney failure in your dog
  • Peaches especially the pit can get stuck in bowels and are poisonous
  • Apple seeds release cyanide into the bloodstream
  • Chocolates and gum (especially sugar-free containing xylitol), can lead to liver damage
  • Fried and fatty foods can cause a life-threatening disease called pancreatitis
  • Onion family (all onions including garlic and chives) can kill your dog

And what about that cat of yours?

  • Cats are also super-sensitive to onions, garlic as well as anything with garlic and onion powder.
  • Alcohol can cause severe liver and brain damage. As little as a tablespoon can lead to problems for your cat.
  • Cats should also stay away from anything with chocolate, dairy products (can cause vomiting and diarrhea), raw eggs, all caffeine products, grapes, raisins, raw meats, fish and fatty foods (for the same reason as above), and anything with the sugar free sweetener xylitol, found in chewing gums and other products and can immediately cause seizures/convulsions or even death
