If you've seen me in the last 10 or so months, you've probably questioned whether or not I even know what a hairdresser is. That's how long it's been since I got a cut and color and I'll be the first to admit that I look like the stereotypical 'new' mom and it's really pathetic.

But I really have no excuse (other than perpetual exhaustion and lack of funds due to diapering and feeding a tiny human) for not taking care of myself, but the people of Normal Wells do.

Norman Wells is a tiny town in northern Canada and is very close to the Arctic Circle. Oh, and residents of this town have to drive 17 hours to get to a hairdresser. That's right. Normal Wells is a town of about 800 people and they've not had anyone in town who can do hair for the past two years.

Norman Wells’ economic development officer Nicky Richards explained, "Whenever I get out of town, that's like the first thing, 'Oh my God! I'm going to get my hair done!’

Desperate residents have even attempted to take measures into their own hands, with unfortunate results. So, if you happen to be a licensed hairdresser and you're up for moving to a town where the average temperature is 60-below-zero in the winter, there's a little shop downtown and a huge number of clientele waiting for you!
