It's finally happened. The second-largest cigarette maker in the country has finally caved in to worries about the health problems caused by cigarettes and will be going so far as to ban smoking in its offices.

Reynolds American Inc. is the maker of Camel, Kool, and Pall Mall cigarettes and has just notified employees that they will not allow the use of cigarettes, cigars, or pipes in its hallways and elevators as of January 2015.

Smoking will be prohibited at desks and conference rooms at some point in 2016, when indoor smoking rooms will be built for those who don’t want to go outside.

As hard as it is to believe, the only locations where smoking was previously not permitted were factory floors, cafeterias, and fitness centers.

The company says that a staggering 18 percent of its employees smoke – which is about the same percentage of adult Americans that use cigarettes. The fact that a big tobacco company is putting a halt to smoking speaks volumes, don't you think?
