Tioga County Sheriff Warns of “FBI Scam”

Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard says that some residents have reported receiving an email from the FBI regarding winning $10,000 from the U.K. Mega Millions Lottery and warns that this is a scam.

Not only is the Tioga County Sheriff's office warning that this is a scam, but the FBI is as well.

Keep in mind you can't win a contest you didn't enter. Ever. If someone calls or emails you about winning a contest you never entered, that should send up a big red flag. And if you receive an email from the FBI asking for personal information, under no circumstance should you respond to it or click on any links within the email. The FBI doesn't send out emails asking for personal information. And why would they? They're the FBI- they know everything about everyone, right?
