Tim Tebow Signs a New NFL Contract
Former Jets backup quarterback and media lightning rod Tim Tebow has found a new home in the National Football League.
Many sources are confirming that Tebow has signed with the New England Patriots. He is expected to appear in Patriots minicamp beginning today.
ESPN’s Ed Werder was the first to break the story on Twitter. Werder followed up the announcement, noting that “Bill Belichick has always spoken of Tebow with admiration and move reunites with Josh McDaniels, who drafted Tebow in first round.”
Unlike in New York, Tebow is in no position to threaten the incumbent starter. Tom Brady has been the Patriots’ starting quarterback for 11 seasons. There has been speculation that Tebow’s skill set might be better suited for a role as a tight end.
New England has significant depth at the position behind All-Pro Aaron Hernandez, but the health issues associated with Rob Gronkowski could pave the way for an opening on the roster, especially if Gronkowski starts the season on the team’s physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
