ESPN Films recently announced that Tim McGraw is narrating a new documentary about NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal and his former Louisiana State University (LSU) basketball coach Dale Brown. The film, called Shaq & Dale, explores the men’s friendship both on and off the court.

As a Louisiana native, McGraw is the perfect choice for a narrator.

"I hope you didn’t come all this way expecting to hear a story just about basketball," the star says in the film’s trailer, “About a team that couldn’t quite win the way everyone expected them to. I hope you didn’t settle in just to remember what it looked like when the player, bigger and better than all the others, ruled college basketball. And I hope you don’t think that just because one is white, and the other’s black … one’s a little younger, and one is a little older … one was a coach, and the other was a player … that two men couldn’t become very best of friends.”

The inspiring lines set the tone for the uplifting behind-the-scenes look at two sports legends.

The ESPN film is one of four new documentaries which highlights the people, teams and events of the Southeastern Conference. Shaq & Dale will air on April 13 at 9PM ET on SEC Network.

McGraw is well-versed in sports projects. He's starred in the football-centered films Friday Night Lights and The Blind Side. In addition to his acting roles, McGraw is staying busy with his 2015 Shotgun Rider tour, and he'll make appearances at both the 2015 Taste of Country Music and Country Jam festivals this summer.
