The year was 1988 when a talented singer who was heading for greatness recorded "When You Say Nothing at All" and it would become Keith Whitley second #1 after "Don't Close Your Eyes," topped the charts.  Keith Whitley passed away a year later at the age of 34.

The song had a second life when 23 year old Alison Krauss recorded her version of the song for a 1994 Keith Whitley tribute album and in 1995 won her a CMA for Single of the Year.

Some will say the Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz song is one of the greatest country songs on the 1980's and 90's.  "When You Say Nothing At All" is often mentioned on critics lists of great country songs.

Today's Throwback Thursday video spotlights, "When You Say Nothing At All" by Alison Krauss and Union Station.  Enjoy.
