Thousands of NYSEG Customers Powerless

Over 11,000 New York State Electric and Gas customers are without power in the Southern Tier.

NYSEG's website: www.nyseg.com reports the majority of the customers affected are in Tioga County with several hundred in Western Broome County also showing power outages.

According to NYSEG, most customers are expected to have electricity back on by 9:45 or 10 a.m.

The utility has not provided any information to local law enforcement or media concerning the cause of the power interruption.

Motorists should be aware that traffic control systems may be out of commission due to the power problem as well.
