Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins announced they're not only expecting a baby, they'll be adopting a baby too. The singer shared the news with fans on Twitter, adding they'll bring the adopted child home from Africa.

The couple told People that adopting and giving birth at about the same time wasn't the plan. Last year they quietly stopped trying to have their own baby as they began the adoption process. Lauren says they wanted to give the adopted child his or her time with them before continuing their family.

It was during a week-long trip to Tanzania in December that the 27-year-old began to feel sick. "I was 100 percent sure I was not pregnant," Akins tells the magazine. Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and his wife Hayley were on hand as she took the test. The "Star of the Show" singer was actually on a treadmill.

"I’m jumping up and down, Tyler’s giving me a bear hug and Hayley’s running out of their room and I’m like, ‘Thomas Rhett is not even here!’" Needless to say her husband was in shock when they found out.

"OH BABY! actually...BABIES! Our hearts are exploding with happiness for y'all to meet our new baby who we are bringing home from Africa soon," Akins wrote on Instagram, "who is also going to have a little brother or sister because, SURPRISE! there's a sweet baby in my belly too."

Adopting a baby is something the couple say they've always wanted to do. Akins' mother is adopted and Rhett's wife is also active volunteering with the non-profit 147 Million Orphans.

The biological baby is set to arrive in August. They're hoping to have the adoption finalized before that. Rhett's Home Team Tour begins on Feb. 23. In June he'll headline Country Jam in Grand Junction, Colo.
