I have heard of switching plates to drive a vehicle. Heck, my grandfather would try to buy the same color, make, year, and model of truck so he didn't have to go to the DMV. I get it the DMV can be awful at times right?

I have also heard of people counterfeiting plates, basically cutting a plate out of tin and painting it to match a real plate and using those cheap paste on house numbers on the front. Now this is a whole new level of confidence  in your craft skills, or lack thereof.

28 year old Amanda Schweickert is up against felony charges when she got pulled over by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department when they noticed she was zooming around with her homemade cardboard license plate.

She had no front plate and the one on the back was one she painted on cardboard "resembling" a  New York tag.

Not only is she charged with forging the plate, she racked up three more vehicle and traffic offenses while showing off her artwork. You'd think that if you made your plate and had no license you's at least try to be an angel behind the wheel.

If you would like to have this artist paint you anything, you can get her out of the clink on $400 bail.

In case you are wondering, homemade cardboard license plates are NOT legal.
