We’re only halfway through The Walking Dead Season 6, but has Season 7 already begun casting for its fall 2016 debut? Justified and Friday Night Lights star Alicia Witt joins in a new mystery role, as the AMC horror-smash releases a new preview for the back half of Season 6, teasing “the most formidable and terrifying threat” yet.

Witt herself first announced the news over Twitter, while AMC declined to confirm if the unknown role would emerge in Season 7 (6 has already wrapped production, but the announcement may have been delayed). Speculation has run abound, as perhaps one of Negan’s concubines, or member to one of the new communities Rick’s group will encounter.

Not only that, but AMC released a new video featurette of the cast and crew previewing the back half debuting on February 14, using lots of … you know, adjectives and hyperbole. Like they do.

In the meantime, so reads the official synopsis for The Walking Dead February 14 premiere:

Episode 6.09 - No Way Out

While trying to escape Alexandria, Rick and his group meet trouble when sudden noise draws walkers towards them with what could be fatal consequences.

The back half of The Walking Dead Season 6 will introduce at least three major comic characters as well, including Xander Berkeley as the leader of a new community, as well Tom Payne as its athletic emissary, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the biggest big bad of them all, Negan.

We’ll hopefully have a real trailer soon, but in the meantime, check out the latest Walking Dead Season 6 photos and teasers below, and stay tuned for more on the February 14 return.
