While I was vacationing last week on the Jersey Shore, I caught up on some reading, something I like to do when I'm relaxing.  TIME magazine did a very impressive job with their recent "Answers Issue," where they gave the reader everything you didn't know but needed to know.

What really caught my attention was a map on the safest and most dangerous states to live.  While you may have seen statics like this in the past based on crime, jobs, health and quality of life, these results were based on natural disasters or things beyond our control.

New Jersey, specially Ocean County...yes, where I was reading the issue on vacation, was ranked the number 1 most dangerous area to live, based on tidal surges and storms like Hurricane Sandy.  Number 3 was Cape May County, also in New Jersey.  If you're wondering about number 2 most dangerous, that would be Orange County, California.

To all my friends in Florida, you are not looking good for tornadoes, flash floods, fires and hurricanes.

The safest places to live include, Sweet Glass County in Montana, Washington County in Idaho and Wheatland County, Montana.

Incidentally, living in the Southern Tier of New York is pretty safe compared with most of the country.
