The Richest People in New York State

You always hear about the one percent but who are these rich people? That was a question I had over the weekend over a couple of beers with friends. Yahoo also asked the question and found the answer with the help of Forbes as to who is the richest person living in New York State.

While top 10 richest people in the United States includes a number of Walton (Wal Mart / Sams Club) family members, the who's who of rich New Yorkers is not a surprising list at all.

Michael Bloomberg who entertained the idea of running for President of the United States this year, came in at number two, with a net worth of $36 billion. Bloomberg is the same guy that reportedly paid himself $1 a year when he was New York City Mayor. It would have been interesting to see if he would have self funded his campaign.

But number one on the list was Koch Industries billionaire David Koch who is reportedly worth $115 billion dollars. David has so much money, he is a politicians best friend.

Now with the infamous one percent identified, it's on to a new work week for "the rest of us" New Yorkers. Salute.
