Well that didn't take long. I don't know if you've heard but we are a Dog Foster Family.  What an awesome experience for us. Well now we're a Forever Family too.

We've been fostering through Cayuga Dog Rescue.  Our first dog was Charlie.  Our 2nd foster dog was named "Scout." When we decided that we would keep him, the family took a vote on what his "Forever" name would be.

I suggested "Baxwell." It was a combination of 2 names that were suggested when he was a foster dog (Baxter and Maxwell.) The other was CJ. He looked a lot like "Charlie" and we would call him that all the time. So CJ (Charlie Jr.) was suggested. When the votes were tallied it was 1 vote for Baxwell and 4 votes for CJ.

There are several shelters that are also awesome if you want to adopt a pet. Locally there's the Broome County Animal Care Council.  It's a local, almost 100% volunteer, non-profit organization with a mission to reduce the population of unwanted animals. It's an aggressive, low cost spay/neuter program.

They rescue homeless animals and provide shelter for them, and adopt out to good homes.  ACC has a public shelter at 131 Washington Avenue, Endicott, as well as a network of foster homes for cats and dogs.

Another one is Pibbles & More Animal Rescue. They have been desperately trying to find more fosters here in the Binghamton area. They want to save more dogs in need. Find out more about them here.

We will continue to foster dogs. This experience has been more rewarding than I had imagined.
