I was introduced to rudeness when I was young, I remember it. It was almost like an awakening moment ripping me from my kid world and making me mad, sad and bewildered. I was with my parents at the little restaurant that was attached to the  ice cream shop in Chenango Forks (right across from Davy's Bar)  for breakfast. We went there all the time because my father was friends with Art Badger the owner of the diner. It was close to Chenango Shores Campground where we had our camper set up and obviously Mr. Badger could cook!

Since we were headed to the campground my parents had tossed me a handful of cash to go pick up some stuff for the camper for that weekend. Ketchup, mustard, hot dogs, coffee creamer and stuff like that.  I had made the purchases and was heading toward the door, arms loaded down, when an older gentleman opened the door for me, or so I assumed. I had said thank you and he yelled: "Stop! Who do you think you are you ungrateful brat? I didn't open the door for you! I opened the door for myself, NOW BACK OUT OF MY WAY!" Shocked, I backed up. He barged through the door and yelled "Now get out of here before you get hurt!" I told my parents and they said "Don't worry about some people are just rude is all.'

Now the thing is I remember that like it was yesterday and it's close to 20 years after it happened! It made an impression on me I will never forget and i have to believe it's not just me.

What was the first experience you had with a truly rude person that is ingrained in your memory?
