Once upon a time, Ronnie Dunn was a psychology major at Abilene Christian University. Then they gave him the ultimatum of staying in school or chasing his music dream.  We all know his choice. He was mildly successful as a solo act ,then he was paired with Kix Brooks to form the legendary, award winning duo Brooks & Dunn.

As will happen over time, the duo drifted apart and finally disbanded. That left Ronnie to re-invent himself. He chose to be a photographer. And I mean creating art works! Seriously! Oh he also thought he'd have time to take the musical solo route. The first song on this journey, Bleed Red, was a top ten hit. Not bad for a "newbie"!

Of course, Ronnie was not just the main voice of Brooks & Dunn, but contributed songs as well. Among them: Boot Scootin' Boogie, Brand New Man and my favorite, That Ain't No Way To Go. He continues to pen songs for his future projects.

So what is Dunn doing now? Recording a new album! Two singles, Country This and Kiss You There are out on iTunes and selling like hotcakes. The record label, Little Willie Records, is owned by Dunn.  Ronnie is also writing blogs for our parent company Townsquare Media. You can see them here every month. It's about his view of the world.

Ever the creative genius, to promote his new music, Ronnie Dunn surprised fans leaving the CMT Music Awards with a rooftop concert and flashmob in downtown Nashville! He also had fans walk around with t-shirts that read "who is Ronnie Dunn?" Of course, that created a buzz.

All in all, Ronnie Dunn's reinvention is pretty impressive! Don't look for him to slow down anytime soon.
